Recommendations for B&B's and/or hotels in Galway and Dublin

Hi everyone, We are going to Ireland in August and finally settled on our travel route. We will fly into Dublin and then head to Galway. Long drive, but my husband thinks he can do it. We are traveling with our 2 adult kids and are trying to go relatively cheap. Do you have any great suggestions for places to stay in Galway and then again Dublin? Also, are we crazy to just to day trips out of Galway or should we head out and stay in other places? How easy are B&B's/hotels to just find? Thanks! Judy

This is sort of the blind leading the blind, as we haven't been there yet, either. But this is the B&B we picked out for Galway: http://lynfieldguesthouse.com . We'll be there in September, and so our report will be to late for you.

I've been having trouble with Dublin B&Bs. They all have very mixed reviews on TripAdvisor.Com--lots of "excellents" but lots of "terribles" as well. Right now I'm leaning towards the Anchor Guesthouse: http://www.anchorguesthouse.com/

Four Seasons B&B on College Road in Galway. Good location to walk to most sites.

Trinity College has rooms for tourists in Dublin and you can't beat the location or history of the building, breakfast included in room rate.

Plenty of day trips available from Galway or Dublin, but nice to spend a night or two in the country. Suggest a night on Inis Mor (Aran Islands) if time and weather permit.

Festivals during summer can sometimes make finding lodging hard to find but not impossible if you are flexible and not wanting to commit to booking in advance. Tourist information office can sometimes help if you are having hard time finding available rooms.

I do not see a Four Seasons B & B in Galway when I Google it. Do you have a website? Thanks!

Just paste in Four Season B&B in Galway on Tripadvisor and up it pops...it's well reviewed.

http://www.seabreezelodge.org/ the owner may play the piano for you. I stayed there with my parents as part of my 40th birthday present. A buddy of mine living in Belgium came over and we drove down to Lahinch and 36 holes of golf.

http://www.irishtourist.com/ you can look around there too...tripadvisor is great too.

hit up McDonagh's for the best fish and chips.

Petra House in Galway is great and they have family rooms that will sleep up to 5 people. The B&B is great -- but I would not want to spend all my nights in Galway when there are so many other great places to be. The smaller towns are waaaay more charming and will give you a different slice of Ireland -- especially if your other stay will be in Dublin.

Hi
We booked a B&B room at Griffin Lodge, after much research, 40 Euros/person. It is suppose to be a 5-10 minute walk to the main downtown area, and yet is far enough away that it is quiet. [email protected] or [email protected]. It was rated fairly high on trip advisor. Dan
