Recommend a night tour in Edinburgh?

We were thinking about doing a ghost tour during our short stay in Edinburgh.
Are they super cheezy? Kind of scary? Comical?
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Tina, I did a ghost tour in Edinburgh some 20 yrs ago. It was great, both a bit cheesy and scary. I was in the city alone, so it was a wonderful way to do the old part of town at night. I felt safe. We went into several of the "closes"-little alleys that open up into courtyards. The last stop was a supposedly hauted pub, so we had a drink. Seems like I just happened upon a few along the Royal Mile and picked one.

These ghost tours are very fun, more comical than scary. But since there done at night they tours do have an "edge" to them. It doesn't really matter which one you take they're all good. www.mercattours.com

I went for a night walk in Edinburgh. The one I went on was aimed at smaller children so I dropped out after about 10 or 15 minutes. I saw numerous groups forming up and thought I was joining the one I had planned on, they all have similar names.

Next time I am in Edinburgh I am going to try out Rebus tours. http://www.rebustours.com/ Rebus is the main character in Ian Rankin's mystery books. They are wonderful books and these tours take you to some of the site from the books. So, while not exactly ghost tours, they are centered around crime. They sound like great fun. Pam

Excellent!

Thank you all!

A 'ghost/haunted tour' seems like the appropriate thing to do in Edinburgh ;)

Will look into those! Thanks!!!
