Heading to Ireland for three weeks in April, has anyone rented a car in the last 6 months? There seems to be a big difference in price, Auto Europe is $300 more expensive than Budget etc. Yes Kent I have read the archives, but I was looking for recent info. Can you find Beleek china throughout Ireland or is it best to go to their factory in Northern Ireland. Also, looking for accommodation in Derry, any suggestions? Thanks Wendy O'Brien Vancouver BC
Try: http://www.353carrental.ie/. Just spot-checked them for a random three weeks in April -- $490 euro or roughly $35 / day. This is the best one either friends or I have ever found, thus use them consistently.
You can find Beleek in many places all over Ireland.
Re car rentals. I've been doing some research lately for a May trip and found 13 days with Dooley--automatic car class F2, 4 door at $1,056 USD, all inclusive rate.
I've used Dooley a lot, but I though this was high so checked out Kemwel, an agency that's been around for more than 20 years, and I although the car is different, I think it is the same size--4 door, etc. for 13 days, all-inclusive Collision, etc.--$760 USD. Quite a difference. Kemwel is like a broker and is able to get discounted rates from car rental companies, hotels, etc.
Anyhow, check them out. Both have websites and USA
800 numbers. (I don't have them handy or I would put them here. Google them, okay?) Don't forget your Michelin road map--essential to find your way around.
thanks everyone, my 23 day trip is booked, airline, b&b's, even a Ken Harper tour in Belfast and a walking tour in Derry. I ended up with Auto Europe, it is nice to pay for most of the car in Canadian dollars and then just the extra insurance in Dublin, they also give a discount for Auto Club Members. Can't wait to see the Emerald Isle, there is a Celtic Festival when we are in Dingle! What fun that will be. Wendy
