Reasonable lodgings in London?

I am looking for reasonably-priced lodgings for myself and my teenage daughter for 3-4 nights in London in July. We are willing to stay in hostels--if they accept 57 year-olds. We would like to find a place in central London if possible, but do not want to stay in an outrageously expensive hotel. Any advice?

Try Travelodge. If you book ahead you can get some good deals. I just spent a night in the Covent Garden Travelodge, it cost £65 paid in advance and non-refundable, and I could have had a family room (double bed plus a pull out couch) for the same rate. It was nice and clean and a great location.

Michael, my daughter and I have had good luck with two different B&B networks - London Home to Home, and At Home in London. Last summer we stayed 5 minutes from the Gloucester Road tube stop for 75 GBP per night [with shared bath]; rooms in central London with private bath tend to be more like 100 pounds. Of course you can go farther out and reduce your cost; we did that on our first visit but found it interfered with our evening theater habit! Have a wonderful trip-

If you're willing to do hostels, how about a dorm? I stayed at various LSE dorms last summer, and had good experiences. And the best experience was the price - 52 pounds or less a night. Something like Holborn has a great location, close to tube and walking distance to quite a lot, and a good breakfast is included.
