Reasonable Lodging in London for family of four

Is it possible? Traveling with two teenage boys, looking for lodging central London with good transportation access. Any suggestions for flat or Apt. rentals? Several suggest Cherry Court, however, when I met with RS consultant she removed it from their list.

Cherry Court may have been removed from her list of recommendations to you, but I would be surprised if it was removed from the RS London 2009 guidebook after reading so many positive reviews here and on tripadvisor. Luna&Simone near Victoria Station might be worth looking at.

We stayed twice (2004 and 2006) at Royal Court Apartments on Gloucester Terr in Bayswater. It is located about 1 block north of Hyde Park and 3 blocks west of Paddington Station.

Paul and Sara...tell us more...how much? What did you like about it? I know the location and it is convenient to the Tube and to Paddington (for the express to Heathrow), but the neighborhood is kind of bland...(I've stayed nearby in Sussex Gardens several times).

The Premier Inn is a great valus for a family. Nothing fancy but clean and the one in London next to the London Eye is a great location.

My daughter and I recently stayed at the Windermere Hotel near Victoria Station(www.windermere-hotel.co.uk). We stayed in a double room for GBP119 but the rate for a family room is GBP159 (we inquired because we plan to return with the entire family of four).

Although GBP159 seems steep, it includes a huge wonderful Full English Breakfast served in a real restaurant within the hotel. We found that restaurant prices were very expensive so a room rate including one big meal makes the entire package somewhat more affordable.

The delicious breakfast was cooked to order: full English Breakfast or scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or Eggs Benedict. While they cook your breakfast you help yourself to the continental buffet: juice, fruit salad, croissants, yogurt, cereal, and cheese. Definitely a good breakfast for teenage boys! There is guest computer/internet access in the breakfast room as well...

The rooms are small (typical of London) and there is no lift but the hotel is small and the staff are super friendly.

The hotel is a very short walk from Victoria Station. My seven year old and I walked everywhere (to the Thames - 15 minutes, Buckingham Palace - 15 minutes, Paddington Station - 1 hour through Hyde Park). The #11 double decker runs every few minutes and can be caught just a few blocks away (5 minutes) and goes through Trafalgar Square (National Gallery. The tube station at Victoria (10 minutes)is convenient.

We arrived at Heathrow with carryon luggage and made our way to Paddington Station, then took the tube to Victoria, and then walked to the hotel. Total time 90 minutes including time at Paddington to buy our Oyster Card and snacks. Leaving, we walked to Paddington so we could go by Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guards and then walk through Hyde Park.

Any hotel near Victoria Station puts you right in the centre. Our neighbourhood was safe, clean and fun.

We loved our week at the Windermere Hotel.

It's hard to know what reasonable means to you. However, if you travel on a shoestring, I would recommend staying in a hostel. Rates will be at the extreme low end of the accommodation scale.

Teenagers usually love hostels. Some have private rooms for two, three and four. Plus dorms where bunks are cheapest. If you are interested you can find a list of hostels at google.com. Search for 'London hostels' or 'London apartments' or 'London accommodations'.

Apartment rentals are comparatively costly, but convenient. You can prepare your meals and save a lot. I would find the Cherry Court homepage and use the toll free phone number to talk with an agent.
