We are based in Reading and would like to travel to Llanidloes in Wales. The trains go to either Newtown or Welshpool. We will check schedules etc. when we arrive in England - anyone have any ideas on length of journey or advice for us?

The closest station to Llanidloes is Caersws, and the journey from Reading to Caersws takes about 3 1/2 hours, with one change at Birmingham New Street. There are trains every two hours.

Thanks to Bob, we now know that Caerws is the closest town to Llanidloes for train travel in Wales. This was much easier than trying to figure out the train schedules on the national rail site. We still plan to get our tickets in England as we are not sure of all our plans.
