Raw Food in Ireland

I am planning a long trip to Ireland, and I was wondering if raw fruits and vegetables are available year round (like they are in American grocery stores).

I have health issues and need to consume a diet of primarily (95%) raw food. Can anyone tell me if this will be a problem?

Thanks!

They have grocery stores like the rest of Europe and America.

Thanks!
I've never been abroad, so I didn't know what the grocery stores would be like.

I've been to Ireland several times and I wouldn't say it was ever a hassle finding a grocery store anywhere. Just like here, there are big supermarket-type stores and little local markets and gas stations with convenience stores. You won't have a problem. I'm kind of curious what you think they eat there, if you wonder if raw food will be available.

Oooh, I didn't think of that. Good point. Thanks.

I figured they ate pretty much like the standard American diet - breads and cereals and eggs and meat and cheese, etc. (none of which I can eat)

It's just that on travel shows like Rick Steves' you never see him saying, ". . . and here is the local Price Chopper mega-grocery store . . . " LOL!

Robin,

I don't think it would be too difficult to find fruits and veggies. But do keep in mind that Ireland is an island and all those things need to be imported most of the year. And that will be VERY expensive, more expensive than what you're used to in the US. Adjust your budget accordingly.

Hey, Robin. Yup raw food is everywhere. Irish grocery stores do tend to be on the expensive side for Europe though. FYI.

Another thing you might think about is house/apt. rentals. Deals are GREAT over there right now (we got a4 bedroom house for $00USD for the entire week), and you can make and refrigerate your own food whatever way you'd like! :)

If you happen to be in Dublin on a Saturday, the Temple Bar Food Market had a stand with raw food energy bars and raw crackers with hummus that was pretty tasty!
