Railway Pass & 2for1 Deals

Hi everyone, Despite lots of posting about this topic, I'm still confused. :-) We're arriving at Heathrow and staying in Westminster. We won't be visiting the sites with the 2for1 deal until the following day. My 2 questions are: 1. What is the best/cheapest way to get to central London from LHR
2. What (and where) Railway pass should we buy to be able to use the 2for1 vouchers? Thanks in advance for your tips!

From Heathrow you have several options- most expensive- cab. Next most- pre-booked car service. Next- Heathrow Express Train (15 min. to Paddington Station), Cheapest- Tube (about 45 min. to Paddington). You could also just take the Tube direct to Westminster (Picadilly line from Heathrow, change at Hammersmith to District Line for Westminster). If you want to use the 2 for 1 deals, then print the vouchers before you go (sometimes the rail stations are out) and buy a Travel Card at a National Rail Station (NOT at an Underground station) such at Paddingtion, Victoria, etc. They are a paper card and can be for 1 day or 7 days and can be for zones 1 and 2 or for more zones, depending on what you want/need. If you decide to use the Tube from Heathrow you can EITHER get an Oyster card and load a one day travel card or some Pay-as-you-go cash on it for that journey and any others that day.

Toni's good on that ... but if you do load a one day travelcard onto an Oyster Card it is USELESS for the 2 for 1 promotion. It must be a National Rail issued ticket.

Thanks for the info! About how much is a 1-day National Rail pass?
