Purcahse Oyster at Heathrow.

We arrive at Heathrow Terminal 3 in a few days to start our summer trip to UK and France. We want to take the tube from Heathrow to Hammersmith, change to District line to Westminster and then walk to our hotel at Premier Inn County Hall. Can we get and load a few pounds on an Oyster PAYG at Heathrow Terminal 3 tomake this journey? We then plan to purchase single day paper travelcards at the Waterloo station near our hotel to get the 2 for 1 deals.

We will probably use the Oyster again when we return to London to fly home. So it is probably ok if we put a few pounds on each one. We arrive in the early am on a Sunday so I am hoping it wont be terrible at Heathrow. However, we are fully aware of the customs and problems at Heathrow so if we are delayed there we wont be upset. It's vacation after all right? : )

Thank you for the help! We are very excited for this trip. My son (11) has been doing his homework reading up on all of the history he will see. Only a bit longer to wait! Txs again!

If you don't already have Oyster cards and won't need any paygo cash on one for other parts of your journey, you could just get paper ticketsfor your first trip at Heathrow. No need to put a deposit down and then havet to get it back at the end of the trip.

True enough, IF there will be NO other Oyster travel at all. But paper single tickets on the Tube are now much more expensive than the same trip on an Oyster. Don't bet the house that you will be walking onto transport within an hour after touchdown.
