Has anyone used either Alan Price "Day tours from Bath" or Mari Roberts' North Wales tours? They are both recommended in Rick's Great Britain 2012 guide. Please share your experience pro and con. I'm planning a trip to England, Wales and Scotland in June 2012. Thanks, Fran
Hi, Last September, my husband, a friend and I toured with Alan Price for 3 wonderful days. Although we did not go to Bath (I had some special requests which he cobbled into a GREAT tour), I HIGHLY recommend anything he would do. Not only is he highly knowledgable about the UK, he is also very personable. He's centered in Frome which is near Longleat Manor and depending on where you are staying, you do not have to have him pick you up in Bath. We stayed at a LOVELY B&B in Frome in the countryside so he didn't have far to travel to pick us up in the morning. Let me know if you have any questions but as I said, I highly recommend Alan. He'll work with you if you have special needs and/or requests. I guarantee a worthwhile trip. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Linda...

Thanks Linda. We did book a tour with him. He is picking us up at Heathrow and touring the villages on the way to Bath. Thanks for the positive info. Fran
We have booked a tour with Alan Price for October 7 and he seems very well informed. For what it's worth here's what we will see:
After 09.00 pickup in Bath, travel to the Uffington white horse, Avebury great henge, the avenue, Overton Down barrow cemetery and the Ridgeway, Silbury Hill, and West Kennet long barrow followed by lunch at The Red Lion. Then to Stonhenge area via East Kennet and Alton Barnes, Durrington Walls, Woodhenge, Stonehenge, The Stonehenge barrows and the Cursus. Returning to Bath around 18.30. If your trip is before that time, please post a review of your tour.
Ken, My husband and I recently returned from our 17-day vacation in England, North Wales and Scotland. Alan picked us up at Heathrow with our first stop Avery and the large stone rings and burial chambers (Long Barrow). This is much bigger than Stonehedge and fully accessible. We visited the Wells Cathedral and Nunnery Castle on private land. We toured until jet lag caught up with us and he dropped us at our apartment in Bath. I highly recommend Alan for his knowledge of the area and its history. The tour was a great way to start our trip.
