Pound Store in England -

May I have suggestions of what people have found in Pound Stores that they feel was a great buy? We bought Cabury chocolate there on a quick run in and look around trek on our last trip to England. This time, I would like to look longer and would appreciate suggestions.

Pound stores in England are like dollar stores here -- a mix of junk and the random great deal. Their inventory changes all the time just as they do here, so it would be hard to say what you might find at any given time. Even if someone found a great deal to tell you about, it would most likely be long gone before you go.

We were in York when we happened upon the Pound Store and only in it for a brief few minutes.

Hi Charlene,
There's a Pound store near me that I use a lot. Their inventory does change a lot, but they always have every day products like shampoo, toothpaste, bath products etc., and cleaning materials.
Happy shopping!

An off brand of Handy Wipes. We were driving and at every stop there seemed to be a dog or a horse or a cat that needed petting. Also. You know those scruncy things, nylon, comes in all colors for showering. We call them body brillos. A whole packet of various items of that sort. Since lots of B&B do not provide wash cloths this was a great find. Also mints and travel candles.

Pound stores seem to be everywhere in the UK- sometimes called Pound Savers. We bought a eyeglass cleaning kit that included a small screwdriver on a key ring, spray, high quality, no lint cloth and some wipes. Since we both wear glasses, we got 2 kits. I now carry the screwdriver at home and when I travel. Also got some travel size containers for liquids- a kit of 5 or 6 and a soap dish size holder.

I like Pound Shops. It's like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get! I like looking at their snack food section. I try to stick to nuts, pretzels and black licorise(Sp?) I go for Cadbury though, for sure!
