We will be traveling from London to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard by train. We (family of 4) will have 4 bags--does anyone know if there is baggage storage nearby the station? After we visit the HMS vistory we are renting a car on Gunstore Rd in Downtown..how far is this from the docks?

According to www.nationalrail.co.uk, none of the stations in Portsmouth has left luggage facilities. According to www.viamichelin.com, Gunstore Road is within a few blocks of the Hilsea train station. Some, but not all, trains from London to Portsmouth Harbour stop at Hilsea. To find out which ones do, use the Journey Planner on the National Rail site.
I suggest that you take the train to Hilsea, store your luggage at the car rental place on Gunstore Road, and then go on to Portsmouth Harbour. It's a short walk from there to the HMS Victory. See here.
