Hi All, 4 of us are planning our trip and we plan to take a trip up to Portrush and explore the coastline for a day in late May. I have been working on hotels/b&bs and have narrowed it down to 4 places (a lot of places are already sold out). Does anyone have any experience with any of the following? 1) Antrim House B&B 2) Royal Court Hotel 3) Adelphi Portrush 4) Ramada Portrush I appreciate all of your help. I can't believe this is trip #4 that I have planned with the help of Rick Steves and you guys on the helpline. Thanks,
Tracey
If you're willing to drive about 20-30 minutes out of Portrush - which IMO is eminently skippable - you'll find one of the best B&B's in Northern Ireland. It's called Whitepark House. Its website will give you an idea what it's like: http://whiteparkhouse.com/ We've stayed in B&B's all over Europe and Whitepark House is at the top.
Sorry, never stayed at the places you list. I stayed at Atlantic View B&B in Portrush right in the center of town. It's a very small, older place but they serve a nice breakfast, it's quiet and priced reasonable. Parts of Portrush definitely have the vibe of certain beach towns along the Jersey Shore in the US, with the carny games & rides. There are some parts that are nice, and a number of decent restaurants (most away from the amusements area). While I did not have a bad stay in Portrush, I probably would try another village or town if I wanted to go back to that part of Northern Ireland again and needed to base myself somewhere.
