I plan to get there on my next visit to the UK, but will probably hire a car (perhaps in Bath) and drive to Port Isaac. The public transportation connections to some of the smaller towns in England are sometimes a bit "challenging".

To plan a journey by public transport in the U.K., use the Transport Direct website at www.transportdirect.info/web2/.
The suggested journey from London is train to Exeter, then by bus to Port Isaac, but you need to change buses en route. Alternatively, you could travel by National Express long-distance bus (called coaches over here) to Exeter (www.nationalexpress.com). This would be cheaper, but take longer.
