My husband and I are traveling from London to Plymouth so we can visit the Dartmoor Zoological Park. We then want to travel to Edinburgh. I found a direct train (and another with 1 stop) to Edinburgh for about 100-193 pounds (I cannot look up our June dates yet). Is it better to travel back to London, then to Edinburgh? It may seem like a dumb question, but sometimes prices may be cheaper from a lager city. Any suggestions or opinions?
Timetables change in mid-June. Fares are unlikely to. The timetable changes are likely to be nominal. Use National Rail Enquiries. If that is what you are using you will see that after may you are beyond the event horizon. Tickets haven't yet been released. When they are you will see the event horizon shift. If you do go via London you are making 2 big sides of a triangle whereas going by Birmingham is a hypotenuse. That is one long day of travel, diagonally across virtually the entire country. Is it not possible to break the journey up? Have you looked into low cost flights?
http://www.flybe.com/ Check out the above link. Its a large but cheap UK airline and they are based out of Exeter Airport which isnt that far from Plymouth. You can take direct flights to Edinburgh from there for the same or probably cheaper than the train fare. Plus you will be there a whole lot faster and alot more relaxed. Pete
WOW! That does help a ton! I think this is going to work our a TON better! Thank you so much for answering my thread!
