Places to stay in Bath

We will be going to this area in June 2008 as our starting point for our month-long trip to Europe. Has anyone stayed at the following B&Bs?

  • Brock's Guest House
  • Elgin Villa
  • Three Abbey Green Guest House

If so, what are your thoughts? What other places should we consider?

Thanks.

Dan, I stayed at Elgin Villa a few months ago, and would certainly recommend it. The owner, Anna, was wonderful and the room was very comfortable. It's in a convenient location and an easy to walk to the town centre.

If you're thinking of staying there, you might send an E-mail to touch base with them.

Good luck!

Jill and Keith at Holly Villa are wonderful - her laugh was absolutely contagious! It was our first Bed and Breakfast experience - and it sold us... The location and gardens are just so perfect - we were able to walk absolutely everywhere.

My husband and I just decided last night to plan a trip to England for this year. I've read this post and would like to know if we would need a car while in Bath. We will have 3 weeks - 18 days to actually drive. We will probably fly into London, take a train to Bath? spend a couple days then head out on the road. What would we miss if we did not go any further north than Hadrian's Wall? We like back roads and little out of the way places, that's why we will have a car. We will not be making B&B reservations ahead of time except for the first couple nights and the last night in country. I know I am vague but with some suggestions from the helpline I can "narrow" down some of my route. We are not against the train, we just want a car for the smaller out of the way places. Thank you for any suggestions. I will look up Hollyvilla Guesthouse as suggested from here.
