looking for a good place to stay from which to visit stannage edge, haddon hall, chatsworth, etc.

You really need to stay at one of the many B&Bs or hotels in either Matlock or Matlock Bath. From there you are just a short hop from everywhere in the Peak. Matlock has a good railway station. Matlock and Matlock Bath are both very historic and very beautiful. It's where most British tourists choose to stay.

Thanks so much - we took your advice and found a place in Matlock and will soon have that part of our stay taken care of. Next is Conwy, Wales!

Hi you might also want to see, Eyam, the snake pass, castleton..For a top of the world ride ashbourne -buxton is good.
