Thanks for the information. Will check websites out.
My husband and I went in 2009. We stayed at the London Bridge Hotel. It was very close to London Bridge Station, a major transportation hub (tube, trains, buses, etc) and close walk to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. You could use a walking path along the River Thames for a nice walk to Westminster (Eye of London, Houses of Parliment, etc) or aross Millineum Bridge to go to St Paul's. It was a bit tricky to find at first but very nice inside. It came with a breakfast buffet and had private baths. The room was a bit small but I find that to be true with most of Europe.

Janis, this is where I stay 99% of the time I go to London. I love it! It's so close to Victoria, I've walked from Victoria to the B&B at 1 AM and felt perfectly safe, the rooms are decent sized for London, the breakfast is GREAT! If you can force yourself to eat like a pig, you can go most of the day with nothing else, and just have a snack or early dinner-food in London is expensive. You will share a bathroom with a few other rooms, but the toilet is separate from the shower room, and you'll have a sink in your room. I've had to wait for the shower closest to my room only once and I've probably stayed there 8 times. You can also go to another shower up or down more stairs. There are stairs, and the stairs down to the breakfast room are a little steep, no elevator. But it's a great place, people are nice, and a super location. Down the street is a thrift shop, I think it benefits their Red Cross, and a couple more blocks iaways a post office. PM me with any questions.
My husband and I have been to London in 2009, 2010 and this year. We have been very pleased with the Crowne Plaza South Kensington area. 100 Cromwell. It is directly across the street from the Gloucester tube station. It is a lovely hotel in a lovely and convenient area. London is fantastic.
