Pilgrimage in Ireland

My husband and I are planning to go to Ireland. We specifically want to do the Pilgrimage from Ballintubber Abbey to Croagh Patrick and climb the Reek. Has anyone done that? We are thinking 2 days for the walk from Ballintubber to the mountain. Is that realistic? Any recommendations for a place to stay on the way?

I read your question eariler and hoped someone might be able to offer you some guidance on your pilgrimage plans. I can share with you that we visited Ballintubber Abbey last summer and found the Abbey and grounds to be prayerful and peaceful. I remember the Abbey grounds is the starting point for a pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick, which is led by a priest. We did not make the pilgrimage, but visiting Ballintubber Abbey was one of the highlights of our Ireland experience. You may have the Abbey's e-mail address, but I am including it for you.
