we will be driving to Bath on a saturday. anyone know of public parking we can easily get to?
I see no one has yet responded to your question, so I'll put in my two cents. I haven't driven in the UK yet (saving that for my next my 5th trip), but I was in Bath just a couple years ago and noted how congested the traffic patterns seemed. Driving there did not look pleasant. If your hotel or B&B can't provide parking, ask if they can recommend somewhere. But if you get no answers, my suggestion is to find some place on the outskirts perhaps, not right up on the main tourist areas. My immediate impression of Bath was that, while I'd be interested in driving in England some day, I would NOT choose to navigate through Bath. The town itself is small enough to get around on foot and the need for a car would only be to see sites in the surrounding area.
I have driven in Bath, it's easy. There are 13 parking center in the city the two larger ones are.......1)on Charlotte St., it's off of A4 (Upper Bristol Rd) then left onto Charlotte St., 2) at Bath Spa train station...A36 (Lower Bristol Rd) left over Churchill Bridge then right onto Dorchester Street and then on your right. Have fun Cost for parking on Charlotte St.......up to 4hrs~£4.00.....4-6hs~£6.00....6-11hrs~£8.00 Bath Spa train station.....£9.20 a day Not bad prices.
I have to agree with Robin. We found a pretty convenient carpark at Waitrose on Northgate street. This would be a good time for you to use your GPS.
Parking in Bath is expensive, and car parks are often full. A good native are the park & ride sites. These are free car parks on the outskirts, with a fast dedicated bus service to the city centre.
