Which ones do you want? We went to Harris / Lewis last summer. We took the Cal-Mac ferry from Uig on Skye to Harris, stayed two nights, took the same ferry back. Stayed at Leumadair Farm, chosen for its proximity to Calanish. You can also take the ferry from Lewis to Ullaport, but that's a longer crossing. Try to avoid Sundays, if possible, since many places are closed that day.

When I went to the Outer Hebrides we left from near Inverness and caught the morning ferry to Stornoway from Ullapool. It was nice ferry ride with great views of the west coast of Scotland including Inverpolly. You might look into driving to Ullapool the day before. There are some nice shops and good walks in the hills immediately above Ullapool. We returned via the Tarbert to Uig ferry. This was an early morning ferry and we saw beautiful sunrise over Skye. We spent that day taking a small walk on Skye and visiting Eilean Donan castle and were back near Inverness in time for dinner. This worked well for us as we explored the Lewis end of the island before heading down to the more rugged Harris. We were there for a week. If you want to explore North Uist, there is a ferry from Leverburgh to Berneray which is connected to North Uist by a causeway. It gets a little more complicated to go to South Uist and Barra. I'd love to get there some day. Pam

Three or four years ago, I took a day trip from Uig in Skye to Lewis and Harris. The ferry left Uig fairly early in the morning and returned around 10:00 or so in the evening, if I remember correctly. It was a long but wonderful day. We traveled throughout Lewis and Harris by bus, stopping at several places. I would have preferred to stay over night, but could not work it into our schedule. At the time we went, they (Cal Mac ferries) only offered this day trip on Saturdays. We loved it.
