Looking for a hotel for one night in Oslo in early June, before flying back to west coast US. Will take train from Bergen following a Ricks tour, to Oslo.

Anne and Andy, We stayed at this place and found it met our needs perfectly. I believe it may have been recomended by Rick. Perminalin Hotel, Ovre Slottsgate 2, Oslo, Norway, +47-240-055-00 It is right downtown, an easy walk from the train/tram/bus station. You may be arriving after dark, so have a map and walk or take a cab the first time. It's too close to bother with busses or trams. The cabbies won't like this short of trip so it would be good to tip them a little extra. This hotel is operated for Norwegian military personel on leave. We found them to be remarkably quiet and polite. The place is pretty austere as far as the rooms go, but quite clean and quiet. They have an amazingly varied breakfast buffett with many local dishes (brown cheese, pickeled herring four ways etc.). The cafeteria is also open for lunch and dinner and very reasonably priced considering normal resteraunt prices there.
