Hi. About to book two of these tours online for our upcoming Galway trip (we're not driving). Highly rated on Trip Advisor, but curious about what folks on this site feel. Seems like the itineraries are very good and you get a bit of a deal for booking two trips. I know there are several options, but would appreciate feedback. This is for early October.
Can't tell exactly which tours or companies you're looking at, but I took a couple day tours out of Galway several years ago and really enjoyed them.. They were both half day bus tours; one to the Burren and Cliffs of Moher, and the other to the Connemara. They both included plenty of stops and opportunities to stretch your legs, etc... I was there in late September, weather was iffy at times, but the buses were only about half full, so that was nice.
I like the day trips, and preferred the bus ride over hassling with a rental car and driving; but if the freedom and flexibility of having your own car and being on your own schedule is important to you then the day trips might not work so well...
Thanks for the reply, Matt. I booked two tours with the Galway tour co. Hopefully weather will not be too awful!
I haven't used them, but I have done day tours in Ireland and they are usually a great value.
Laura - Our family used Galway Tour Company this past June. We did the Burren and Cliffs of Moher, and the Connemara/Cong tours. They were tours and the drivers were excellent.
THanks everyone. We booked two tours with Galway Tour co. We leave Thursday for England, then Ireland. Looking forward to it! Will report back on the tours.
Hi. This is a follow-up to the two tours that we recently took out of Galway. We used the Galway Tour Co (they also go to Galway from Dublin). Excellent value for money. We did two trips, one to Cliffs of Moher, other to Connemara. Both had good (slightly corny) driver/guides. Full bus for Moher, many students, seemingly many not speaking English (Galway is a huge Univ. town). So not great response to driver's jokes, etc. But he worked terribly hard, we thought. A car is better in this area, but honestly, we had fun. We lucked out with weather as well (unbelievably for Ireland in OCT!)
