Although most of trip will be in York, I have to spend my last night near Heathrow to be able to make my flight home. Does anyone know of a reasonable/cheap hotel either near Heathrow? Thanks. :)
Jury's Inn Hotel Ibis Hotel... Both are within your search area...they are inexpensive, not "cheap" though...good buy each
Yotel.....situated in Terminal 4....you book by the hour. http://www.yotel.com
For detailed information on all Heathrow area hotels, go here: www.londontoolkit.com/travel/heathrow_hotels.htm. You'll find several that are very reasonable.
I stayed at Heathrow Lodge a couple of times....They have a free shuttle to LHR....It was inexpensive and not like a large hotel chain place.
We loved Jurys Inn Heathrow. Very reasonable prices especially if a weekend night. Supremely quiet even tho the hotel is under the flight path. Very clean; plenty of room; and even good food.
In 2006, we stayed at the Premier Travel Inn the night prior to return to US. We also were coming from York. If you are driving, I would recommend looking into Enterprise. They are right behind the hotel and permitted us to return the car the evening prior to our flight. There is an open gate between the hotel parking lot and the Enterprise location; a short walk. Then take the Enterprise shuttle to the terminal.
Alma House B&B in Windsor..15 minute taxi ride to Heathrow. almahouse.co.uk ~~~~ if you stay in Windsor you could get out and walk around and have a good meal in a pub.
You might also consider using priceline "name your own price" or hotwire for Heathrow airport area. You won't know which hotel until after you pay, but I often see very cheap prices listed for Heathrow area.
Travelodge is reasonable.
Frank II's suggestion of the Yotel at Terminal 4 is a good one to consider. The rooms are tiny but surprisingly comfortable, squeaky clean, and the shower is one of the best I've ever had in a hotel of any class. There's a nice pub just across the corridor from the Yotel for a spot of dinner or a nightcap, and the Yotel itself has room service 24 hours a day. I never gave them a serious thought until my last trip back via Heathrow, when my flight was leaving at 6:30 am to Paris. Too early for the Tube or train, so I was resigned to one of the airport hotels on the shuttle bus run when I thought to check out the Yotel website. Frankly, I was still skeptical but I figured, why not give it a try? I'm glad I did--it'll be my go-to choice now for those early morning flights.
