On our way back home from Paris and Florence, we have a one night layover at the Heathrow/Windsor Marriott. Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 6:30 pm on a Thursday. We will be leaving early the next morning, so our only chance to see anything would be that night. Is it at all reasonable to think we might grab a cab, drop off our bags at the hotel, and make it to Windsor to a pub for dinner, with the drive there at least be during daylight hours (with sunset predicted for 9:18 that night)? And if so, is it fairly easy to obtain a return taxi...and does anyone have a suggestion for dinner? Thank you in advance for your input--I will certainly post my experiences in return!
Replying to my own question to clarify I understand from previous postings that I should obtain a taxi based in Windsor; what I'm not sure about is the timing, and recommendations for taxi service and dinner. Again, thank you! If it makes any difference, I am a mom traveling with a teenage daughter.
I was in Windsor in May. There is a taxi stand on the downhill side of the castle. It is across the street from the shopping mall. Just ask someone for the taxi stand.
