One day travelcard good for 24 hours?

Is the one day TravelCard in London good for a 24 hour period? Or is it only good for the date you buy it,meaning you should buy it first thing in the morning so you could use it all day.

No. It is not good for 24 hours. It is good for the whole day and up until 4:30am of the next day.

You can confirm this on their website but it's my understanding that it is only good until midnight of the day it covers. You can buy the one day travelcard for a future date and it's good for that 24 hour period. If you are looking at a late day use for the card, it would probably be cheaper to buy an individual ticket or two. The other option is a pay as you go Oyster card.

Thanks for all your replies. I was wanting to take advantage of the 2 for 1 offers and was thinking of saving time by buying my travel card the day before. Good to know I can get them for an advanced date. Traveling with my 3 kids (16 and older) so that can save me quite a chunk of change!
