We're exchanging homes with a Suffolk couple in June/July and upon returning need to leave their car at Stansted Airport where they can later pick it up. Therefore, we need a place that will keep the keys THERE onsite for them (while we fly back to USA). I've found a couple of possible off-site places with shuttle to airport but am wondering if anyone has experience in this. Thanks for your help. Julia

I've never done what you are asking about, but I had a couple of ideas. Couldn't the couple take their own set of keys with them when they come here, and you could lock your set in the car when you leave it there? If you wanted to find an off-site that would hold the keys, couldn't the UK couple find out that information for you before you arrive? If they have done this before they might have a preference of where it is left.

Yes, but the problem with leaving the car at the airport with the keys and ticket inside is that how will they know where the car is? We're flying at the same time, unable to communicate with them, and the car could be anywhere in a huge parking lot. And yes, they are researching info on their side but I'm just trying to help. I've done similar handoffs with work colleagues at airports in the States. We've always each had a set of keys and exchanged voicemail with location of car.
Do you both have mobile phones? If so, lock the keys in the car and call and leave a message on their voicemail with the location of the car. They can retrieve the message on arrival.
Alternatively, if they don't havea mobile, do they have a friend or neighbor who will be available? If so, call the friend and tell them the car location.
Another option you might check is see if internet terminals are available at Stansted. If so you could send email which they could retrieve on arrival.

We use off airport parking. However, when you leave the car you are given a ticket which you need to hand in when reclaiming the car.
