Hello, We are 2 adults travelling from London Waterloo to salisbury and back on the same day. I priced return fare on the First Western Co.UK site and teh cheapest fare is the Off Peak one for approx GBP 34.60 pp. Will I get the same fare if I wait until we travel (May 3rd, 2012) or should I go ahead and book now? Is there any advantage of booking ahead?
This route is run by South-West Trains, not First Great Western. The South West trains website shows fares for next week at £34.70, so I think you will not save anything by booking in advance.
Thank you for the reply, Bob. I checked on both the sites and it seems you can buy from both. Since I have already registered with First Western I thought it might be easier to just buy from there if needed. Is there an issue if I buy from the First Western site?
On this journey all that booking in advance will gain will be seat reservations. Regular fares are the same whichever company you buy from. Sometimes though a company may run special discounts only on their own trains.
