Oban to Isle of Mull tour

I am looking for suggestions re: overnight in Oban and information regarding an Isle of Mull tour. Also, can someone comment on the roads leading to Oban from Glasgow - are they narrow or is it open highway? Thanks

I have no knowledge of a Mull tour, the island is easy to wander on your own.

The roads from Oban to Glasgow are all two-lane, but wide enough not to present problems, even with an oncoming truck.

Try the Thornloe Guest House. It was a bit steep, but nice. I also stayed in a hostel there on a solo trip; think there was only one in town and hope it's defunct -- have successfully forgotten the name.

We did not drive directly to Oban from Glasgow so I can't comment on the road but we found roads to be very good in Scotland. It is quite likely you may at some point find yourself on a single track road but it was not a problem for us. We stayed at Hotel Glenburnie and really liked it--had a nice view of the bay. It is more of a small inn than hotel. It is an easy walk to the ticket window to purchase tics for the ferry to Mull and from there you can also go to Iona.Part of the tour is by bus and the drivers are very entertaining.

Easy driving from Glasgow to Oban. You can take the two isles tour or three isles tour from Oban. The two isles tour takes you by bus across Mull and then by ferry to Iona. On the three isles tour (which I highly recommend) you also ferry to Staffa. Our bus driver on Mull was new, so the commentary was pretty limited, which was disappointing. Even so, we thought it was a great tour. In Oban we stayed at Kilchrennan House, a very nice B&B with wonderful owners and an excellent breakfast.

I would recommend the tour that includes going to Staffa. The boat trip to Staffa is quite nice and the island is interesting. It's fun to see the cave the basalt pillars.

I agree that the drive from Glasgow to Oban is quite straight forward. The road past Loch Lomond can be quite busy though.
