O'Hare to Heathrow via Raleigh

My husband and I are flying to London May 13 from O'Hare via Raleigh. We only have an 1 hour and 5 minute connection time. I was wondering if anyone has flown this route before. I am not familiar with the Raleigh airport but it looks like the AA gates are in one area. Assuming our flight is on time it doesn't appear we would have a problem connecting and we are not planning to check our bags. However, I was wondering if AA holds the flight to London if there was a delay and there are many passengers making this connection.

AA is in a brand new and very easy to use terminal at RDU and, as best I can recall, their gates are clustered. The London flight leaves from the end of the terminal. If your flight arrives on time, you should make it easily. Dunno if AA will hold if you're late, though. If I had to guess, I'd say yes, within reason, especially if you say something to a flight attendant.

Debbie, Just curious why you are going this route. I know American flies directly to London several times a day, I think, from ORD. Did you get a big break in price? Pam

We are flying that route because we are flying with miles and that was the best option offered at the time.

Ah well, that explains it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on a budget saving opp. ; )

Don't know if they will hold the flight for you, but AA will help you make the next one. When flying STL-ORD-LHR-FCO last year, my flight leaving ORD was delayed a few hours (sitting on the runway, ugh!) and I ended up getting to LHR very late with only 40 minutes to make my flight (including switching terminals, going through security again, etc). When I exited the plane at LHR, the attendant told me that they had already booked me on the next LHR-FCO flight in case I didn't make my current one. As long as there are no delays, it should be enough time for you especially if the flights are all in one area. If there are delays, they will help you out.
