We are seeking a room for the 15-17 of March which unfortunately is Rugby Weekend, Palm Sunday and St. Patricks Day. Last minute trip. Not connecting on a Dublin hotel. Any suggestions not in Rick's book, either in our right outside the city? We don't want to stay at the airport :(

It's St Patrick's Day, not Easter. You might try Glen Guesthouse on Gardiner St. When I last stayed there it was one of the cheaper options, and breakfast was included -- as well as "power showers".

I've stayed at the Eliza Lodge in the Temple Bar area. Try one of the European hotel booking sites like venere.com.

try www.graftonguesthouse.com - Grafton House is on Great Georges Street - about a 3-5 minute walk to Dublin Castle, Temple Bar, 10 mins to Trinity College.
Will say the windows are not double glazed so you may not want a room facing the street if noise is an issue - and Dublin is sure to be noisy if there is rugby and St. Patrick's Day.
