My family is intending to ski in the 2008 Birkebeiner. Any suggestions as to where to stay before and after the race? Any other thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Susan

Balestrand in Western Norway (off Sognfjord) - and saty at the Balestrand Hotel - great place, price and super friendly (not sure if they are open in winter tho!)! Oslo and Bergen, and if in winter - the Elevester-Hotel up in the "Giants Country" area - Jostenheimen (sp?) mountains east of Sognfjord.
