Norway - without a guide!

Planning a summer hiking trip to Norway late August. Flying into and out of Bergen and want to include hiking and staying in quaint places from Bergen to Jotunheimen National Park and to experience and hike in the fiords along the way. Only have 7 days in Norway and we are overwhelmed with planning the trip. Any suggestions on "must do hikes with a challenge" and "must stay" accomodations along the way? Thanks!

Steve must have been in a hurry and was undoubtedly suggesting that you hike near the glaciers, rather than actually hiking the glaciers. As you probably know, hiking on glaciers is extreemly dangerous without a guide.

Hi, a must a DNT card. This is the norwegian mountian touring club, runs a huge network of huts/lodges and will get you reduced fees. That said over a week might not save you so much.Eek,

I've stayed at Finse and walk north to Aurland, this apparently is the "British route" very scenic
Think I'd go Bergen-Flam railway, ferry to Ardal then Vetti
The train and ferry connections are very easy, I guess you could head to Vetti and stay at the farm there or the basic shelters, vist the base of Vettifossen. The Hurrugane peaks west of vetti are the most alpine in Norway. At the head of the valley there is the highest hut in the system about 7,500ft up. The highest peaks are about a day away above Spiterstulen, and maybe Besseggen Ridge is another classic. My spelling of places is from quesswork.I'll try and fiind a link to the paperback book I use in planning
