I am hoping to go to Oslo for a friend's wedding in June 2008 and was hoping to spend at least 3 weeks in Europe to enjoy Scandinavia and possibly England. How would I plan this trip? Do I fly in and out of London and then take a short flight to Norway for the time I want to be there? When should I start planning my trip. I'm finding that airfares are pretty high right now and I have a feeling that they will go down in 2008. Just a few questions to get my planning started! THANKS!
There are non-stop flights from the US into the capital cities of all the Scandinavian countries(mostly out of JFK & Newark). It's usually cheaper, and more efficient to fly "open jaw"; that is fly into one city and back from another. When you check schedules and fares on sites like Expedia or Orbitz, you will be given the option of checking flights one-way, round trip, or multiple destinations. The "multiple destinations" option will check open jaw fares/schedules for you. To help get you started in the planning, you should buy Rick's "Europe through the Back door" guidebook and his Scandinavia guidebook.
We're doing that next month. I'm flying into London for a week, then heading over to Oslo, then back to London and then home.
We found a $50.00 flight from London to Oslo.
Start looking for airfare after the first of the year - February seems to be a hot month for buying summer airfare - a lot of summer sales then.
