Norway Itinerary Help

I'm heading to Scandinavia in May for my first trip to Europe and all of the advice on the helpline has been a great help so far. I'm having some difficulties making travel decisions in Norway, and I'm hoping to benefit from the collective knowledge. Here is what I have for an itinerary so far:

Day 1: Arrive in Oslo around 12:30 at the airport from Iceland
Day 6: Arrive in Stockholm with as much of the day as possible

Between Day 2 and Day 6, I want to spend a day in Oslo, travel by train to Flam and spend a night there (or somewhere else in the area?), and spend 1.5-2 days in Bergen.

Here are the options I'm considering:

Day 1-2: Oslo
Day 3: Flam
Day 4-5: Bergen (Fly to Stockholm on Day 5 at 2:30pm or fly on Day 6 at 12:20pm)

Day 1: Oslo then overnight train to Bergen
Day 2-3: Bergen
Day 4: Flam
Day 5: Oslo (late train to Stockholm)

Either of these two the better option? Other suggestions?

I was planning to take the train to Myrdal and walk a portion to Flam. Rick recommends Myrdal to Berekvam and my other guidebook recommends the opposite, Berekvam to Flam. I'm not concerned about distance, other than not wanting to spend half a day walking the whole road. Has anyone walked either of these sections?

Thanks in advance.

I presume you are flying IcelandAir, coming from Iceland. They have flights that land in Bergen. Then you could go Bergen-Oslo-Stockholm (or the reverse). Is it possible for you to do that instead of the crazy amount of backtracking you are trying to do now?

I am flying IcelandAir, but I've already booked the flight into Oslo. I had some last minute changes come up in my planning and didn't realize the mistake until after the tickets were booked. I don't think with the change fees, it would make economical sense, because I can get a cheaper flight from Bergen.

Ok, so you are stuck flying into the center of the area you want to be and you want to go both east and west....

I guess I would would fly from Bergen to Stockholm in your first option.

But frankly, I would first call IcelandAir and talk with someone about switching your flight and ask them "what's the best deal you can do for me?" and if they offer to make the change to one leg of the flight from Bergen for less than $500, I would take it. They might.

The thing is, it's not just the money. It's the time, too. The otherwise unneccessary flight from Bergen to Stockholm will cost the fare+transport to&from both airports, but it will also cost you maybe 6 hours of prime tourist time in your short trip. At home, 6 hours for most people isn't worth several hundren dollars, but in Scndinavia, it is. You would be buying a certain amount of sanity, too, since you will be sitting there kicking yourself every minute of those six hours you spend making an unneccessary trip.

Maybe the DNT hut at Finse, its in a spectacular location, theres a glacier about 1/2 mile away.
Don't have the map in front of me but theres a good walking trail to Myrdal, or just get the train.
