Norway including fjord in one week

I can only take a one week vacation...ie 7 days including travel time. I'd like to go to Scandinavia and see the fjord most especially. Can you advise me on the best place to start the trip from and the suggested itinerary? I am from Los Angeles, CA and my boss only allows vacation in early July. I will be traveling with my husband. Thanks so much. YOur help will be invaluable. I read Rick Steves' books and watch his travel videos.

Consider, staying at Finse, its the next train stop after Myrdall which is on the nutshell tour.Finse is an extraordinary place.I stayed there on Aug, it was 36F Public trainsport is easy to use.. its on the tourist trail. You could also ,with a bit of adventure do the trail to Vettifossen.

Norway in a nutshell is a great way to go! Oslo is a wonderful city (with so few people) and the Bergen/Voss location will be something you really enjoy..... I took my Father, Uncle and their cousin....it was a wonderful trip.

Hi - I did the RS Tour in May/June last year - it was great. Norway in a week is not bad! lots to do and see. The Nutshell tour is of course a must... and a couple days each in Oslo and Bergen for sure. On top of that - id highly recommend a day or two in the Fjord towns... I loved BALESTRAND - a bit out of the way but easy to get to by the express boats from Flam or Bergen. Balestrand Hotel is the best! Take a hiking day with a local guide or hike around the hill your self. Also - a day trip by boat or car to the nearby glaciers and a glacier hike is awesome!

Voss is a nice mountain town gateway destination to he big park areas if you like hiking more too. I hear a lot about the nice southern area - but havent been - but you can do a lot if you stay 1-2 nites each place to get in the full effect! have fun!
