Hi do we need to make reservations for the different legs of this trip ahead of time? If so can anyone recommend where I can do that? Thank you for your help.

Advance reservations are essential for the inter-city train that runs from Oslo to Bergen. The official site will do it all for you: http://www.norwaynutshell.com

We did the 'nutshell' in mid-June a few years ago and bought the train and ferry tickets at the train station in Oslo a couple of days in advance. Possibly a busier time of year would require advance purchase. We didn't include Bergen, but did spend a couple of nights in Balestrand. Another website is www.fjord1.no. Have a great trip.
