We will be spending 2 nights in Conwy at the beginning of September. We will be arriving in the early evening on a Wednesday and will leave mid afternoon on Friday. On Friday we plan to see the castle and other sights in Conwy.
On Thursday, we are trying to plan an itinerary for Northern Wales by public transportation. I know Rick lists public transportation options in his book but we are wondering what is really feasible to see in one day. We would like to see the castle in Caernarfon. Would it be possible to also take the Highland Steam Railway through Snowdonia to Beddgelert or the Mountain Railway from Llanberis? Alternatively, we could return to Conwy and try to see the Bodnant Gardens the same day. The Llechwedd Slate Mine tour looks really interesting but seems difficult to get to by public transportation on the same day as seeing Caernarfon. Or, what other ideas might be worth visiting in our limited time?
Thanks for any suggestions.
