The highly recommended Mary Gibbons tour is fully booked for the date we need. Any other suggestions for a Newgrange excursion from Dublin?

You can try Over The Top Tours (http://www.overthetoptours.com/). I haven't used this company yet, although I am booked with them on their shuttle from Dublin to Newgrange later this August. Although, if you wanted a guided tour, I'm not sure this will work as I believe it's just a shuttle to/from Dublin.

I took the Bus Eireann tour a couple of years ago and it was fine,no problems and a knowledgeable and personable guide.
