I finally booked my trip and will be celebrating New Years Eve in London. I've been there before but never for new years. Any suggestions, advice on where to go or things to do?? Thanks :)

Back under the previous Mayor, Ken Livingstone, and under the previous national government, money tended to be freely splashed about with no thought for the future. In that environment there used to be a pretty good binge along the river for New Years with fireworks to follow. ¶ In the days of Boris, and now that we have an austerity budget with cuts here, there, and everywhere, I don't know but would guess that anything would be cut way back. ¶ Of course, because personal fireworks are legal and freely available in the UK, I would expect to see and hear plenty of local ones in the neighborhoods.
