Planning a trip post-Christmas to France, but may plan to spend 2-3 days in London, possibly over the New Year...any thoughts about this, especially related to affordable accommodations near the Thames?
The Thames, especially round the London Eye area, gets absolutely packed with people on New Years Eve. There's a reasonably priced hotel right there, I think it's a Premier Inn, so check their website. Also try Travelodge. But I think rates may be high for that night.
As Maggie says, it's more expensive to stay in London on New Years'. South of the Thames will be cheaper, and there are more options. A budget chain like Travelodge is a good suggestion.
