Hi, We are going to be in N. Wales the same time this festival is going on and thought it would be fun to go! Have any of you been? What was it like? We will have our 10 yr old son with us as well.
Thanks
We went to this twenty years ago. The problem then was that there was no slope to the auditorium floor--we were seated over half way back and couldn't see anything. If you want to go, check first to be sure that isn't still a problem.
I've been, and I just loved it. It was a hoot - and one of the most wonderful things about it is that it's a local competition, not overrun with generic acts you can see/hear elsewhere. I am a huge fan of Welsh men's choirs - the sound of massed male voices rising in traditional song is THRILLING, IMHO. When I went, I was able to hear a number of local choirs I'd never have heard elsewhere, AND I got to sit in on rehearsals! Of course, there are many other attractions - food, drink, science competitions, and tons of local get-togethers. If you haven't checked out the official site, here it is: http://www.eisteddfod.org.uk/english/ As for your 10-year-old, I think he would love it. There's plenty of stuff for families and kids to do.
