Mull or Skye

Could I get some feedback on which island to visit if I have limited time? We enjoy great scenery and quaint little towns. Thanks

Skye scenery is spectacular. Skye has the Black Cuillins, the Red Cuillins, the Trotternish and the Quirang, the lighthouse out on the Waternish, and then there is Elgol. Portree has the painted houses and there is Dunvegan Castle. I loved it. I did a week's photo workshop here and we never ran out of subjects even in the rain. ; )

Mull is beautiful as well. Tobermory is charming village which also has painted houses. There are castles, waterfalls, wildlife tours (look on PBS site for the show the Eagles of Mull) and you can catch a boat to Fingal's cave on Staffa and visit Iona.

I think I would go to Skye first and then Mull in my second trip to Skye, but you should look on their websites to see what you would like. If you hike and love the mountains, then Skye should win. If you are intrigued by wildlife tours then Mull might win.

The scenery in Skye is simply spectacular. I would definitely choose Skye. I have been there twice and stayed in the town of Portree both times. It has a great setting right on the water, and is a nice little town.

I have not spent as much time in Mull, but my impression was that it was very pretty, but not as spectacular as Skye. I did not get to Tobermory, so cannot comment on that.
