I'm going to meet up with Rick Steves tour in August after a side stay at Glastonbury. On my 51st birthday, I would like to take a jaunt up to a stone circle, and was thinking a motorcycle tour guide would be really fun. I've tried to find one on-line, with no success. Any ideas?
Are you intending to ride a hired motorcycle or are you looking to be a passenger on one ?
If you are riding a bike from Glastonbury you take the road to Frome, then on to Warminster. From Warminster take the road to Amesbury and about three miles from Amesbury you will see Stonehenge on your left and a road running up to it.
From Stonehenge head north to Devises, take the Swindon Road and twenty minutes later you will pass through Avebury ( the village set in a circle of stones ).
Thanks so very much for reply! I'd like to be a passenger on a motorcycle but tour groups don't seem to have them. I hadn't thought about a bicyle... do you know how many miles from Glastonbury to Amesbury? 3 is bike-able, but needing a sense of how many more there are... I think I'd still like to find a motorcycle somewhere. I don't know how to drive it myself, but being a passenger would be fun cause then I could sightsee with the wind in my face. I wish I could stay longer... my family comes from Devises a few generations back... would be great to check it out!
