Most Comfortable and Best Shoes for Ireland?

We are getting ready to visit Ireland again this fall. I want to bring another pair of comfortable shoes (have Keen Charleston Lace) and would love anyone's suggestion. I would not like to have to pay over $80 so I am limited by that. I live in Florida and would not use an oxford winter type of shoe very much, hence my price limit. Could anyone offer a suggestion?

Becky: I'll be interested in what others might suggest. If you've been to Ireland before you know that your feet will get wet. Bass has some water resistant pebble leather slipons that I've worn here in Seattle over the winter that were quite comfortable. Check the outlet store or online. Depending on the shape of your feet; you might check boys shoes. The Keen Charleston Lace look nice; but I wonder if the puddles will just soak in? You can get spray that will prevent light rain from ruining shoes.

Kathleen; I wore my Keen's all over Ireland and Paris without any problems. I have since worn them in the rain here in Florida and my feet kept dry. I really love this style and it is very comfortable. I keep hoping that I will find them on sale before we leave at the end of September.

When we were in Ireland in May, I took a pair of Merrill black Mary Jane type shoes. They had a thicker strap over the top of foot and a little heel height (not much, just not flat). I took them to the shoe repair and had them streched around the bunion area a little just to make sure I didn't have any problems. They looked really nice with pants and jeans and were extremely comfortable. I am going to New York in two weeks and going to wear them there for walking. They cost about $80.00

I'm a nurse and am on my feet up to twelve hours a day. I wear Dansko enclosed clogs.I walked all over Europe in them too. No back, heel, foot or leg pain. They come in a variety of styles. A lot of medical people swear by them. They come in other styles too. I even have a cute pair of dansko pumps. The "professional" starts at about 115.00. They're not for every body but some stores offer a two month walk test where you can return them if you are not satisfied. They last forever. Happy Travels. Angela

I have been to Ireland 7 times. I have worn Merells with the waterproof lining. First time I was there I wore sneakers, and learned my lesson of wet socks! I suggest anything comfortable and waterproof if you are venturing off of the sidewalks! Have a great time!

Kelley; Thanks for the help. I have thought of Merrells but was hoping not to have to pay that much. I have decided to just wear the Keens I wore last year. I can't wait to go this October. I have come to the realization that once you go to Ireland you just want to keep going back.
