Long sold out before we knew which days we'd be in Edinburgh (Aug 5-9), I'd like to hear of any tips and tricks on scoring seats to this incredibly popular event. Like some events here in the US, can you get tickets day of show through ticket resellers in Edinburgh? Or should I be certain to buy tickets (ebay, etc.) before leaving for trip? Either way I know I'll be paying a premium. Thanks.
We attended the Tattoo last year and I remember there were some people trying to sell tickets or buy tickets close to the castle. I scored our tickets last year by just happening to (again)logon to the official website and discovering there were a handful of tickets available.
If you can get the tickets through a reseller, I'd try that way--it's a fabulous spectacle. Be prepared to be squished into seats!
I hope you're successful...and that it doesn't rain!
Went last Aug. Worth the effort. We already had tickets via the internet but my wife wanted to visit the "official tattoo shop" in Edinburgh. We did and they were selling tickets for that evenings performance at face value. Linda is correct, think small seats. Keep dry - buy yourself a rain parka available in most of the shops on the royal mile - 2 pounds. Good Luck
We have tickets to this year's Tattoo. It clearly states that tickets are void if resold. How they can tell or if it is enforced I don't know. Just a warning to be careful of ebay, etc.
Thanks for this. I recently added on Edinburgh to my trip, but of course tickets were already sold out. It'd be great if I could get a single day of ticket from an official source rather than a reseller.
I just checked and was able to buy a ticket for August 22nd - it says they've put some resales on.
I scored tickets by booking a hotel room at the Scotsman. It will be very expensive to stay there but really wanted to attend the Tattoo plus we get a Tattoo dinner(whatever that is) I wonder if other hotels have them with package plans, also.
