I have a verizon mifi. Basically, it is a portable wifi connection that uses the cellular phone network. I was wondering if cellphone warehouse or other store would have something like that to rent for a couple weeks for under $50 or so. Thanks!

Or get an unlocked Android phone with the latest version of the operating system software (2.2 or froyo). At the moment this may be limited to the Google Nexus One. Anyway, the phone has software that makes it into a portable wifi hotspot. Just buy a prepaid SIM and pay for a data package and you are set to go. You don't have to carry a separate gadget, too, because the phone still works as a phone.

3 network - but, but, but ... go on their website first to check 1) new users can use wifi 2) 3 network ok in the area you'll be in.
I bought one a couple of weeks ago in Aberdeen to use with an i-touch. Can't use here as network seems saturated (Glasgow was fine). Basically, decided tyo access the internet differently. Populated areas of UK are very good for wifi - everyone uses it all the time.
