I did check the archives and found nothing that really answered this question. Has anyone been to a Summer Solstice or Midsummer celebration anywhere in Iceland, Norway, Sweden or Denmark OTHER than at Skansen? I'd be especially interested in smaller, more low-key events. Thanks in advance for your opinions on the good, bad and ugly of what you experienced.

I spotted this article in the New York Times yesterday. It may give you some ideas. And if you can't quite get to Scandinavia this year and want to experience then see if you can get to Wisconsin over the fourth of July week end. Folklore Village has been holding a Midsommer Festival for many years. It's highly participatory and very grounded in Scandinavian Culture. Many Wisconsinites' families came from Scandinavia. Pam
