mandeville hotel or park inn russel square?

Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels? I found a great deal on orbitz for mandeville, making it much cheaper than normal price. They end up being the same price. But i am more familiar with location of park inn... Hmm... Atleast i have narrowed it down to 2 choices.

Hi Jill,

I haven't stayed at the Mandeville, but I am fairly familiar with the location. It is around the corner from the Wallace Collection which is located in a lovely house in a very pretty square (Manchester Square). It is free and worth a visit if you like decorative arts. In the past 10 years are so, a lot of "foodie" places have opened up in Marylebone. Many are north of the hotel along Marylebone High Street or on the side streets. In the area are the Ginger Pig (a a butcher), Divertimenti (a high end cook shop that also offers cooking classes), the Fromagerie (great cheese), Rococo Chocolates, Providores and Tapas Room, Fishworks, etc. Near the hotel is the Golden Hind (a fish and chips place that many people rate highly). There are also several design shops. There is also a small farmers market on Sunday. The Mandeville is a couple of blocks north of Oxford Street ... the big shopping street that is always crammed filled with people. To me, this is the downside. The nearest tube is Bond Street which means you have to make your way through the throngs. I'm not a big fan of Oxford Street, but I do like the shops in Marylebone.

If you like gourmet food and shops, Marylebone would be an interesting area to stay in. If these really aren't your thing, then I'd suggest that the Russell Square location would be a better choice.
