Our escorted tour ends in Manchester. We want to see the Yorkshire Dales by car. Will two day, and one overnight, be enough time?
Thanks
There is a lot to see in what appears as a small area on a map. Check on the wikipedia entry ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yorkshire_Dales ) and the Yorkshire Dales National Park site ( http://www.yorkshiredales.org.uk/index.htm ). Given your time constraints you may want to select just one of the Dales to visit.
There is a good reason for the amazing green of the Dales - be prepared for rain.
Hi, worth traveling to the dales even for an hour.
In no particular order
Malham Cove , Gordale Scar the minor road to Litton dale, maybe call in at the Falcon Inn.Up Wharfdale, the old church at Hubberholme,WhiteLion at Cray has excellent food, maybe accomodation not sure. Over the tops to Gayle Mill, then Hawes with its excellent olde worlde food hall.Hawes is pretty central.the famous Cheese factory.Maybe a wander down wenslydale to Richmond..historic market town, then up the whole of swaledale, each village is a delight, greta bread at reeth, tan Hill of course, the waterfalls at Keld, hardraw Force near Hawes via th e16 century pub.A bit of interpid adventure FREE at Jordas cave. Its a great part of the world, says this yorkshireman. And astonishingly good food at the Old Hill Inn, on the Ingelton road near Ribblehead.Looks like a bleak moorland pub from the outside, we went back 3 nights running.
Enjoy Yorkshire..wink, so much nicer than Lancashire..
